“The
Delhi Association of Russian
Compatriots” was founded
on 3rd of September 2004 in
the Russian Centre of Science
& Culture, New Delhi with
the aim of unifying the Russians
with permanent residence in
Delhi, promotion of Russian
Culture & Language, relations
with Russia. DARC unites more
than 150 members which include
Russians and citizens of CIS
countries. |

Creation
of DARC is an important step
taken towards preservation of
Russian Cultural presence in
India. The Russian compatriots
residing here for the last many
years are native Russian language
speakers and are the face of
Russia in the Indian society.
Many of these members are working
in Humanities field including
Education, Culture, Journalism,
having contacts with not only
Indian middle class but elite
too. Having felt the need of
preserving live contact |

with the motherland, desire to be
in touch with events taking place
in Russia, the Compatriot Russians,
their children & members of their
family act as a means which will allow
strengthening and consolidation of
contacts of Russian Foreign Establishments
in their daily work in the destination
country for propaganda of culture
& modern politics of our country
and will work towards development
of Russian-Indian relations which
will strengthen our strategic partnership.

The members of the Association
take part in the Cultural and
Information events of RCSC and
they meet every month to discuss
and plan events, meet new members
and organize high tea parties
with Russian snacks. For small
children of the members cartoon
and children film shows are
organized. Meetings with Russian
diplomats and Consular Section
are also held. |

DARC takes part
in the activities of Russian Orthodox
Community which is an important
way of preserving the spiritual
and Cultural ties with Russia. DARC
invites Russian Orthodox Archpriest
Father Gennady from Russian Embassy.
With the help of the funds allocated
by the Embassy of Russian Federation,
DARC subscribes Russian newspapers
and periodicals which are exclusively
for the members of the Association.
